Artist Statement | “The Children Shall Lead” is inspired by the idea that children are not just the future, but already carry vision, confidence, and purpose. This piece is rooted in real conversations with my godchildren and nephews, who I asked what they want to be when they grow up. Their answers directly shaped the professions they are illustrated as, allowing their voices and ambitions to lead the narrative.

The composition connects each child’s dream to the world around them. The city in the background is intentionally still being built, representing growth and a future still in progress. A racetrack, stadium, and a hospital emerge in the distance, aligning with the paths each child is moving toward. By using real children, real poses, and real aspirations, the artwork reflects how public art can represent a community while inspiring possibility and leadership in the next generation.
