Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture is dedicated to the collection and preservation of artifacts, archival documents, and fine art that reflect the history and culture of African Americans in the State of Maryland. Since the opening of the museum, our permanent collection has grown significantly through donations of a wide range of exciting and inspiring materials.

Permanent Exhibitions

The Reginald F. Lewis Museum's permanent exhibition introduces you to Maryland’s African American heritage via three galleries.

The Reginald F. Lewis Museum tells stories of perseverance, triumph and celebration. In keeping with our mission, we collect, preserve, interpret, document and exhibit the rich contributions of African American Marylanders.
